Have an opportunity to get involved with the local Welcome Wagon.

Anyone have any success with a photography promotion? Looking for a way to screen the bottom feeders who get their free session & 11x14, order nothing more & promptly disappear off the map.

TIA

I'm looking specifically for successful promotions for the "New To The Community" aspect.

No Canadian pros doing the Welcome Wagon thing?

Either I'm way ahead of the curve or sucking the hind tit.

I suspect the latter...;)

Not really a Canadian thing. I've heard the term years ago. I can't help you with your question though.

Personally I don't see the advantage. People have just moved to a new city and they contact you and give you a mitt full of coupons for discounts on this and that. Quite honestly when one is trying to get settled into a new community having their portrait done is probably far down the list of financial obligations. Nothing ventured, nothing gained though and if the cost is minimal then you could give a try. I personally wouldn't as I think there are better places to spend promotional dollars. I have a business plan that has money set aside for promotions and advertising. If you can fit it into a plan and you think it is good thing then by all means do it. I am a firm believer in having a plan and budget. Just doing things as they present themselves can be a good thing sometimes but I always try and build it into the plan.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I think you'd have a better return on your investment posting a flyer at the local coffee house.
