Flash on BG with continuous key and fill light?

Hi folks.

I have two rather weak softboxes using continuous light. I was just wondering, since it would only be the BG and I would like to blow it out, would it work to use my Strobe to blow out the BG while shooting a portrait using my continuous light softboxes as key and fill? I can't think of any reason why this wouldn't work because I would be metering for the continuous light and just using radio trigger to set of the flash on the BG, so the camera basically would not react to the flash and it should just blow out the bg while getting the proper shot with the continuous key and fill. Anyone do this in their shots?

Caught my daughter as she was leaving and had to practically beg her to stand for a couple shots before she left so I could try this. It worked fine other than I think it through off the WB some. Thought I would post the results
