I love the expression "from what I hear" and the many variations
in it's literal sense my question becomes

did someone walk up to you and say......"hey, did you hear, some street photographers are putting tape over the brand name"?

I've seen someone taping his camera logo. And I was wondering what's the whole purpose of it? Is it because they do not want to advertise Canon? The guy was using 5DII, and while you could still see the 5D Mark II, you could not see the Canon letters on top.

Anyone knows why people do that?

You see it mainly with sports shooters, avoiding being "branded"...even if the white lens gives then away to us photogs:)!
