So I'm currently looking for a remote trigger for my 5DMKII, the main feature I'm after is the ability to keep the shutter "locked", so if I put it in continuous shooting it will keep taking pictures with the button locked.

The ones Canon make are quite expensive, but I found this one http://www.ebay.co.uk …ss_RL&hash=item2ebcd26339 (external link)

And it seem to do all the things the £99 Canon remote trigger does.

Do anybody have any experience with off-brand triggers, especially the one I linked?

No experience with that one, but It should do what you want to do.

Two stage release. Halfway to focus, fully depress to release shutter
Push forward to lock for continuous exposure

There is a review of controllers in the latest UK magazine Photo Plus Canon Edition. As I remember the clear winner was Hahnel Giga T Pro.
