Like between the 70-200 2.8's they have or the 120-300 2.8's. The price difference isn't that great, so it's somewhat of a marketing scheme, but not completely. Go UCLA

Most will say that there isn't a real difference in the quality. Given the small difference in price, I would go for the newer DG model. Guess, good marketing has it's advantages. 7D, 10D, Canon EFS 18-55mm modded

People look at the used one then check the price against the $800 DG model at B&H and assume it is a great deal, when it fact the non-DG model sold new for $638 at Sigma4less and the new DG model sells for $749 at Sigma4less. It is all about research; I would not base ANYTHING on ebay prices. 7D, 10D, Canon EFS 18-55mm modded

But some looks completely different. For instance, Sigma 17-35 f2.8-4 EX HSM DG looks so different from its non-DG cousin. Fee

Now given the right price, used non-DG may be the smart move. naw ive seen the non dg's end at around $580shipped used, which, $100 off new, is still an incentive to get used on ebay. yea im a ebay verteran and of course i dont compare anything on ebay, some bidders just dont know =P
