I've been getting into night photography for a little while now and with the recent move to the 5DII a whole new range of possibilities exist. So far, I've been shooting stars and star trails, but this shot is my first attempt at using glow lights. I'm very interested in what you all think and suggestions for improvement.

I do like this photo, the blue doesn't work for me but its a matter of personal taste. Also, it could be my monitor but its a little dark overall

One day I was walking on the street and somebody handed me a camera. I looked at them and said, "This is not a Canon, what do I look like? A charity case?" So I took it, and THREW IT ON THE GROUND!

I like what you did with the shot and the colors, although I think slime green or blood red would have worked better. Great shot of the building.

Great concept!

The blue may make it seem like someone is "home" and watching TV.
I'd like to see other colors, too.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks all. We had a bunch of other colors with us and used them to light up things around the house, but didn't switch the color inside. Appreciate the feedback!

Pretty cool. Lots of little things to see in that pic! Love the light beyond the horizon just to the right of the back of the house. Cool trees too!

I really like the shot. I like the blue too, as it gives it a very surreal feel to it.

If I was to do anything, I'd have probably tried to frame the white glow out, by moving the house to the right a bit. Then I would clone the red lights out.

Also watch your horizon, it's a bit crooked to the left, and finally watch your verticals, the house isn't completely perp, so it feels like it's leaning back a bit.

Also, if you re-framed, I would try to not cut the trees off, if at all possible. (I know that can really be hard sometimes, not sure if you could here or not).

Lighting looks great. I'm glad you didn't do what I've done with the glow sticks... a little goes a long way. A lot of the time, once you can see the color by eye, it's already too much for the sensor. I've ruined a few good shots this way.

Nice! I feel more invited than anything looking at this. Like its 1993 and I can go in and watch an episode of Nickelodeon's (Are you afraid of the dark) on TV. You definitely brought that old shack back to life! fun to look at.

I really like the shot, especially the blue, 'freaky' glow from the house and the bright light on the horizon right of the house. The lighting is spot on, but the town/street(?) lights on the horizon left of the house bug me a bit... look sort of out of place in this remote, desolate, 'scary' setting. That's just my take on it though.

IMO, the crooked-ness of the house adds to the shot. I don't think all photos need to be perfectly vertical or level.

The leaning of the house and the trees make it almost look like there's a strong wind. Just need some things to add like curtains or something blowing in the same direction.

Photography is totally subjective but I disagree, horizons should be straight and verticals should be vertical.

There are very few instances where I would say that those rules should be broken. But, as you said, it comes down to what you like. 8-)
