I take photos for our local dirt racing track, I have a Canon PowerShot SX120 IS Camera and it takes awesome action photos of the cars racing using both Landscape and Portrait settings in sunlight but when the sun starts going down and the track lights come on the photos get blurry. I have tried all kids of settings and an not come up with anything that works. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Crank the ISO as high as it goes, set the camera to either Av at the widest possible aperture or Tv at no less than 1/125 sec. and try panning with the cars. If you get blurred cars or underexposed shots, just admit that it's too dark for the SX120 to work. It may look bright to you, but your camera has a much less wide range of adjustment to low light.

Thank you, I pan with the cars in the daylight and the shots are amazing! I will try the settings you mentioned and see how it works. I am planning on buying a new more expensive Canon soon.

well just to warn you, you need to spend a good amount of money to get good low light action shots with a DSLR. point and shoots wont cut it. day light is fine, but low light or night time, point and shoots will struggle. heck, dslrs with iso cranked up might still struggle if one doesnt use a fast aperture lens.
