I've seen Canon Rumours shot of the markII 24-70L and think the lens hood looks appalling!
I read that the action is now reversed, the lens extends the opposite way to the mark1 (which has an oddball action). No doubt thats why the hood is now fitted to the front of the lens and not the main body and can also be smaller. However the designers do really need to rethink the shape of that monstrosity.
I will wait to read lens tests before I decide, but it might be enough for me to continue using the mark1 with its large but good looking hood and forget this lens.
