Misconception Number 1: GPU only matters for gaming. Your GPU is always being put to work. The GPU is what drives the pixels on your screen, whether you are gaming or not. It is not a matter of gaming for me, who games on a Mac anyways? It is a matter of smooth and elegant user experience. Crap ton of pixels can hurt the experience if the GPU cannot keep up. I think the GT650M should be ok most of the time though.

Will do you think Apple would release a high profile product like this that cant run say LR or PS without issue? I highly doubt it. It will do just fine for those instances. And just for you i will ask them to run all of them at the same time plus Final Cut Pro in full screen mode. That was my test on my current mac and it ran with no issue. The experience was smooth and elegant then again we will say RAM has a hand as well

We shall see, if I bought a 2880x1800 resolution screen I'd want to run it at that, not 1920x1200.

Depends on the apps you're running really. At retina resolution the app not optimized will have some pixel doubling which won't make it look terrible but not as optimally sharp as it should be. If you boot camp the machine then you have no choice as there are no display API's to tell Windows what the retina screen is so you're stuck at 1920x1200.

I can see people falling back to 1920x1200 if things don't look stellar until the wave of app updates start rolling out. Aperture should be interesting and I'm hoping Pixelmator gets updated quickly with retina support as I love that app.

There used to be Canon gear here but it disappeared.

I hope Adobe gets on board since they are all I would really use on it. On the other hand I prolly won't be getting a new computer for years, they can take all the time they want converting

I said the same thing when they announced the Retina Display. Reminds me of when the apps on the iphone and ipad had to go through updates. Difference is those moved pretty quickly. Not sure how fast say Adobe will move on updating LR and PS

Odd it took Apple so long to redesign the magsafe plug. THey should have done it with the original MBA. Now the MBA and MBP Retina has it... I find it odd they didn't just make it standard across the board.

Before it was pretty much any charger could charge any Mac. Now if you have a MBA or MBP Retina you can't share plugs with other Macs, even over current Macs.

So just got back from 36 holes of golf.

What did I miss? I see iOS6 was announced, google maps got the boot, macbook pro / air refreshes as well as a 15" retina display bastard child.

What's new in iOS6?

Siri goes to the new ipad, facebook integration like twitter, New Maps, Share photostream with friends/family in which you choose what to share, passbook (will help with managing your plane tickets, movie tickets, and other things etc.), Do not disturb will allow you to choose what calls/text get through and which dont (you can also control now who calls you and who cant). and some other things.

imessage now integrated across all platforms as well as gamecenter. Pause a turnbased game on say a phone and pick up where you left off on either the ipad or mac. Can do the same in either combination.

Wow... what a lackluster update..
