Someone here bought a white lens hood for the 70-200. That's a waste of money.

Wherever you may be, Omar, I am curious as to places in NYC to have photoshoots? Or good places at least.

Well posting it in a THIRD thread wont be so bad:

So lets do some math:

This is what Id likely jump for going to Nikon

D800
Nikon 16-35 VR
Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II
Nikon 28mm f/1.8G
Nikon 50mm f/1.8G
Nikon 105mm f/2.8 VR Micro-Nikkor
Nikon TC-20E III
Nikon SB-910 Speedlight
Nikon R1 Macro Speedlight

$9851, My Canon gear is worth around $4000 last i checked, giving me an out of pocket cost of $5851 to make the switch and replace what i have

Now, if i stay Canon, Lets consider the costs of adding the following to my system:

5D Mark III
Canon 17-40 f/4L
Canon 300mm f/4L IS

Which nets me this following system:

5DIII
Canon 17-40 f/4L
Canon 70-200 f/4L IS USM
Canon 28mm f/1.8 USM
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM
Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro
Canon 300mm f/4L IS USM
Kenko 1.4x DGX Teleconverter
Canon 580EX II
Sigma EM-140 DG Macro Speedlight

$5637, Selling my 7D, 15-85 and 35mm f/2 would likely net me around about $2000 (I think) making my out of pocket around $3637, saving me $2,214 over the Nikon above

I concede, the Nikon system up there has a 70-200 f/2.8 versus my f/4, But personally I'd rather save the weight, the Canon system is lighter I believe (the 17-40 is lighter/smaller than the 16-35, the 70-200 and 300 are lighter than the 70-200 f/2.8 individually..) The Nikon 300mm f/4 lacks VR which meant it was out of the running automatically, and beyond that would have left me a void which the 70-200 f/2.8 would have had to fill anyways, I picked the Nikon TC over a Kenko because in this instance I feel the extra cost might be justified as its a 2x TC and the D800 is a bit of a resolution hog corner to corner...

Even if i went apples to apples(Shoving my personal preferences aside for the sake of being "fair") and sold my 70-200 f/4 and got the f/2.8 instead, id still be up about $1000, For me, even $1000 is a lot of money, its another lens for instance, and the $2214 savings could be spent say, adding a 24mm f/1.4L II to replace the 28mm f/1.8 if i wanted to, Heck I could probubly do that and still pocket some money over the cost of switching to Nikon....

So heres the question, Does anyone feel the Nikon system I built up there is $2214 better than the Canon system? I shoot wildlife, macros, indoor food shots and pretty much a bit of EVERYTHING from time to time, Would love to do landscapes again though i rarely do right now...

I dont want to be bi-system or have two cameras mind you... that to me seems like double expense lol
