chances are if it's going to happen it's going to be this Tuesday, maybe not as I'm meeting a friend I haven't seen in a few years (if it all works out), so I think she wants to meet more casually and not go into the city. Otherwise any good streets that are better for shooting vs. others that aren't? I personally like a certain intersection in SoHo
(see pic), but also any places that don't have a ton of people as I don't want 50 people walking in front of my camera ruining the photo

QUOTED IMAGE

I will look on google maps tomorrow for the streets. My favorite have the cobble stone. They are side streets and not many people walk on them. Good thing the shoot is on Tuesday as it will be pouring tomorrow.

Oh that would be no fun! Well even so, I wouldn't be able to as I don't have a lens, but yeah, any recommendations are more than helpful!

I did a bit of thinking.. could do this:

D800
28mm f/1.8
50mm f/1.8
105mm f/2.8 VR
70-200 f/2.8 VR II
TC-20E III

$7686 - $4000, $3686

of all the lenses i could live without the ultrawide, and everyone here knows im not a huge flash person (i only use it for fill on macro shots) so i can deal without that (plus its only $500 ish to replace..so that eases getting that down the line)

If you have patience, yes I'm sure you would like Nikon better. Being able to go from FF to crop is a hell of a nice feature! You wouldn't need an extender then.

Not to mention going from a 7D -> D800 is a HUGE jump and I'm sure you would really love it. I say patient though as you probably won't sell off everything instantly probably will take a while.

You can do that on a Canon too, it is called CROP IT. On the other hand, don't like 36MP? sorry bro, no mRAW or sRAW.

That never mattered to me, Meh, Why buy a camera with so many megapixels and then not use them?

Cause the files are HUGE and most the time you don't need that kind of ginormous resolution.

That amount of resolution will help with macro and birds giving you even more head room to crop when necessary.

That's a real downside to the D800. :lol::p

That's definitely doable. The 105 VR is absolutely stunning for macro. :)

It would only help me if it raised my FPS. I know using crop mode helps the buffer but does not affect the FPS greatly.

Just bought myself another 256GB SSD and 2TB RAID 1 storage system. One of these days I'll spend the money to get one of those 6TB Thunderbolt RAID systems.
