If you score around a 2200+ that ivy league status basically and you have no life. 2000+ can get you into almost any school except ivy league schools. 1800+ gives you a good chance of getting into great schools. Anything lower you may have a hard time unless you are a straight A student.

I scored a 1310 on the SAT with a perfect in the math section. Brought me up to 81st percentile. However, those exams are just part of it. I graduated with a 3.7 GPA in high school, was part of the varsity basketball and baseball teams, had 4 internships by the time i was done, took 4 college courses and graduated with 15 AP credits as well. I got into some IVY league schools but financially SU gave me the most and had top nationally ranked programs in what i wanted to study. So i went there -Omar- Flickr

He rocked the SAT and had a 95 average in HS but ZERO extra curricular activities. He was rejected from every single school he applied to and had to go to community college. I warned my aunt that universities want well rounded students who can contribute to the classrooms not just book smart individuals. They didnt listen and learned a hard lesson. Damn. that kinda blows... Well I unfortunately quit lacrosse, but I used to swim, play lacrosse, I may or may not join track this year, I'm not too sure on that. Even so I've worked for the past 2 years, done a few community service things, etc.. etc.. I'm just looking to get into a school that's right for me to be honest. I'm currently with Penn state and Temple university as my #1s. My GPA is either a 3.4 or 3.5 unweighted.

I emphasize this to anyone who asks. Grades aren't enough. Even if it's just community/church activities, newspaper, ASB, sports, band, whatever. It makes the student stand out and increases the chances of acceptance. Otherwise go the JC route and take care of GE requirements and save up. | Canon EOS Systems |

They have an abundance of wealth and access to an extensive alumni network which they tap for all kinds of resources which aid students. They might work very hard but they party just as hard as well Blurr Cube wrote in post #14629305 I emphasize this to anyone who asks. Grades aren't enough. Universities love to speak about their students are doing and they hope you will continue that for them. -Omar- Flickr

Also, stay on it. Dont quit as it will reflect bad. My only knock on Temple University is the neighborhood it sits in. I have visited the school and lets just say it isnt the most welcoming area. Plus to be quite honest it isn't my goal in life to go to an Ivy. Penn state is practically an ivy league public school and I do however wanna go there and they have the single most vast alumni network in the US and I believe it was like 99% of people get a job straight out of penn. So that's why it's my #1. Even so for the major I wanna go into there's a 0% unemployment and you have job after job lined up for you before you even graduate.

I do want to point out the CC around the corner from me has ivy league professors that teach there so you can expect a very similar education (then again it's I think one of the best CC's in the country not that I would wanna go there, but just saying). You are speaking about Queensborough community college? -Omar- Flickr
