Great shots Julian, i'm happy to see a Tomcat not rusting away, did they have her fly for the show?

Sadly, they didn't have her flying. I'm not even 100% sure this particular bird is currently air worthy (though the announcer claimed every static plane on the tarmac was fueled and ready to go (to discourage some idiots who kept on smoking their cigarettes). I mean it's only jp5. I doubt I'll ever see one flying in person but I can hold out hope.

Nice shots, looks like the weather was perfect. Wish I could have been there, but I was way too far south on a trip.

Thanks. It was hazy, unfortunately. I had to bump the contrast up a bit on most of the shots during processing. But it was fun. 95-degrees but fun.

The F14 will never fly again. We are even lucky to have a static. All the ones not for static were sent to a plant were they were ground up into little metal chips. The ones that were turned into static had all avionics removed.

I will hold out hope. Maybe Zuckerberg with his bazillions will somehow get his hands on one and revive it and make it air worthy. Heck, if I was a billionaire, I'd do it.

Nevermind... I just read why the F-14's were grounded and sliced/diced/destroyed. It's an attempt to keep the Iranian F-14's grounded. Yeah... guess there's no way to get this bird back up in the air.

Yep that is why they were chopped up after the last unit had returned from its deployment. I am bummed as anyone. I never got to see a F14, A6, or A7 fly in person.
