and the two guys watching are Al Cisneros (Sleep, Om) and Matt Pike (Sleep, High On Fire). This was a great way to kick off last weekend for me.

Saw this on your FB, great shot.

What are most bands attitudes about shooting during soundchecks? I've always wanted to shoot during one but I hear some don't like it.

To be honest i was there as Sleep's guest and not Slayer's, so I didn't push it. And I couldn't hang around for Sleep's sound check as I was meeting a friend for lunch and had to deliver the Wilco boxset I bought and brought over for him (saving a big chunk on postage from the US to the UK!).

The only other sound check I've shot was Buffalo Tom's, and they were fine w/ it.

Interesting amp shot. If my eyes remember correctly, the far right control is preamp, the one just to its left if volume. If so, the guy is running the preamp on 6 and the master volume on less than 2. Nothing close to ear-splitting volume or output from a JCM800 50 or 100w amp.

i took that shot while Sleep was playing, so the amp wasn't in use at the time.
