L lenses on cropped bodies

Look through camera threads with XSi with L lenses. Those photos looks amazing.

I think the OP was right- but wrong at the same time; it's a waste to put those two lenses on a crop, but reality is that you need the latest in technology to work properly with those two lenses. The 5Dc is not enough, nor is the 5D II- you really need the 5D III. So, to save you money and effort, PM me, and I will send you an address to ship them to- for proper disposal- of course. To make it so that you don't feel like you lost out, I will get you a new Canon 75-300 - you know, something suitable for your 7D.

It's way way overkill, dude. I'll take them off your hands for $200...hehehe.
Keep the 70-200 and get a 24-105. JMO.

Yeh, exactly. You got given them, lucky you! Stick with them kiddo, there is nothing wrong with them on a crop body, they'll take sweeter shots just because they were free!

he can sell them still...they still have value...he'd be better off selling the 17-40L and getting something that would be better suited for his camera...

the 17-40L doesn't make sense on a crop with all the options available...

I personally think that depending on the circumstances of the acquisition of the lenses for free that the OP should keep them.

the 17-40 f4L is a great lens.
its gonna be great on any camera.
is the 17-55 2.8 better, probably, but the 17-40 is no slouch.

also, if he changes over to FF later, he will already be set on lenses.

I say keep them and enjoy photography on a budget!

I only have L lenses for my T2i and 400D

I have 6 Ls and one EF lens for my 60D. The image quality is what I am willing to pay for.

So what if the image 'seen' by the sensor is like having horse blinders on the side of the lens? The image I see in the viewfinder is what I want, so I take the picture.

WHAT ! the 17-40 is useless and my other L lenses are over kill on my $5,000 1D mkIV which as we all know is a cropped sensor camera

Could someone please tell me what the other wide lens is for my camera that is better than the 14-40 at that price range .

You'll probably find that 17-40L will become your most used "walk around" lens.
