Back On The Train Gang

Stopped at one of my favourite spots on my way to the former Mosport Park to shoot a few commuter trains a couple weeks ago.

Canadian Tire Motorsports Park

Its gone corporate, but they have already done numerous improvements with many more to follow. Lots of landscaping for better sightlines, better traffic flow with a double wide tunnel under turn ten replacing the former single car sized tunnel, and improved paddocks with paving. Two new pedestrian bridges with one over turn 2 and one at the top of the hill on the backstraight. A new registration building and a hospitality centre outside of turn 10 being started later this summer. Eventually I hear that pitlane will be opened up to hold 42 cars

Thanks for the info. I always thought it should have been called Mossport.
I remember when he designed the road course at MIS, & then they took out Moss's Corner because the wussy drivers complained. ;P

The track was well under way in 1960 when Moss visited it and suggested making the hairpin that was planned into the current configuration to be a better challenge to the drivers, as it leads onto the long back straight.

Somewhere in my moms house is an 8mm film of the 1st major race at Mosport in 1961 The Player's 200 won by Sir Stirling Moss in a Lotus 19. I keep bugging her to find it so we can have it put onto a DVD.

They are even holding a concert in August with some big named country acts from what I understand.

I really hated that back straight in my little 4-banger! Too much time to hear strange noises!
