Just finished the download, and tried it out on a couple of files. I am very happy :). No more sticky sliders, crop tool works instantly, just the way it should be. :D I'm on a 3-year old Dell Laptop running Windows Vista 32 bit.

I really like LR but only one thing drives me nuts. All these years I could just click on the red button using PS and it would not close. LR you need to go - Lightroom, Hide Lightroom or use the shortcut. I'm doing hide LR about 75% of the time now but am still having trouble breaking that old habit. Some days this reminds me of Apollo 13. The LEM had square filters and the Command Module had round filters (or vise versa) :p

Victoria Bampton has posted that there is still at least one known issue with this release.

"There is still at least one known issue - applying Clarity early in your workflow, particularly when combined with noise reduction and/or sharpening, can cause a significant performance hit. The fix for it needs more testing before it gets into the wild, so in the meantime, leaving clarity until later in your workflow should help."

Cant say i notice any problems with that slider but ive taken it out of my default import preset for now.

So glad to hear consistent reports of improved speed/responsiveness. After the initial LR4 release, I had been considering replacing my computer...keeping my fingers crossed that my 6yo Core 2 Duo can keep up with the new release. Downloading now...

Please let me know the result! My computer is not that old, only 4 years...

I concur with this. I'm on a Mac, running OSX Lion in case there are any other Mac users out there curious about the performance differences.

Add me to the list of the relieved regarding the responsiveness issue. The drop in performance from 3.x to 4.0 was a big disappointment. Can't wait to get home and upgrade to see how it's improved on my system.

Thanks all for the updates.

Gave it a brief spin, mostly Spot Healing/Cloning which used to drive me crazy. Seems a lot better. The brush is more responsive too. Sharpening and NR instantaneous. Loading a 21 MP image takes about 4 seconds. So far, so good

Oh, man... that's been the worst for me! Especially if it's on a file that's gone out into PS and came back as a PSD. Super slow-motion execution... like 15 seconds for each little edit. Hope this fixes it...

One more fix that I've found. I do external editing in Elements which requires an 8 bit file. Before the new update, I would change the Edit In output to 8 bit, but it would still export in 16 bit and I'd have to change it in Elements before I could start editing. And the LR dialog would change back to 16 bit for the next photo I exported. Now it retains the 8 bit setting and opens in Elements at 8 bits.

The Detail sliders are quick to respond now too, so It looks good from here. :D

I have an old Core 2 Quad Q9300 with 4GB RAM, and noticed the pausing A LOT when editing, doing stuff like simple sharpening would take 5 seconds or so to apply. And when cropping and moving the image around after setting the crop area would stutter like crazy.

Well, was quickly messing with the update, and I have to say, the stuff that gave me fits is working quite well now. Sharpening, cropping, all seems faster now. Of course I only use about 10% of what Lightroom can really do, but still, I notice a difference.
