I can't fit the entire strip of adjustments in one frame but...

WB: 5700
Tint: 20
Exposure: .30
Blacks: .20 (Did not help the underwing much .. Viveza "Shadows" did most of the work.)

Clarity: 20
Vibrance: 10

Sharpening: 50 1 40 80
NR: 10

CA Removal: Checked in Lens Corrections (It works sooooo well now!)

Process: 2012 (Current)
Profile: Adobe Standard

Can't add much to what has already been said, but thanks. Great "how to"! I have Viveza but haven't been able ring it out to its potential yet.

It's very powerful but it needs to be used sparingly...

I really like "Structure" but man, it will generate noise in a hurry if you aren't careful. It does amazing things to polished metal though!

I've just started using Siver Efex....and the "structure" controls, (or the presets) are so enticing as they really create impact but I was wondering why the images looked so grainy. Obviously I have to restrain myself and use it sparingly.

Thank you for sharing your process, Jay...your final shot looks so natural.

Thanks for this little run-though Jay. I just updated to Photoshop CS6 from 7.0 (!) so I really appreciate it right now.

Many Paths .. One Goal

As you know Jay, I have been on a post-processing journey this year. I told my wife last night: good news, bad news. Good news is I'm loving the Nik Software collection, bad news is I have 12 days left on my demo...so that's another thing I have to buy soon for the ol' portrait business I'm starting. Still havn't tried it on the reenactor shots yet...too busy updating my terrible edits in my portrait portfolio from more than a year ago. Have to put my best face forward on my new website. (pun?)

PS, I dabbled with one aviation photo so far using Viveza...still have a few layers to go. I like the idea of using Silver Efex on a luminous layer...I shall try that before the demo time runs out. I should also add that the major trick as shown in his step by step is a good mask of the subject to begin with...then add the rest of the ingredients.

Awesome job, Jay. How'd you get a shot of the Hornet without other ohotogs in the pic? Seems like there was always someone in my way! I had to look Viveza up. Looks very useful.

I had the same problem. At times I felt I really shouldn't be following the crowd, but going the other way. Some times I did that but, somebody would always have the same idea. In all honesty I felt like a kid in a candy store. I could have spent another few hours out there.

I've said it else where, Jay is forcing me to constantly improve my pp skills. I look at his stuff and attempt to duplicate what he is doing. It's good because I'm learning new stuff on my own. It's almost cheating when he shows how he does it. I feel I have a few thousand photos I need to re-do. Thank you, Jay

I had to wait for a couple folks to move from below me but unfortunately, the crowd was building in anticipation of that Blacklions hornet coming in so I didn't get a big wide of that end of the ramp like I wanted from that set of stairs.

Thanks for the rundown Jay. I'm always trying to tweak and learn more on how to get my pictures look the way my eye see's them.
