Another view from my yard

Show off!!! :p Some people are lucky enough to live in beautiful, scenic places. All I can see from my back yard is my fence and the side of my neighbor's house! The only view I have is straight up, and I take a lot of night shots of the moon, stars and planets out there... when the clouds aren't in the way.

Lol! I do have a great view, but it's temporary. We care take a cattle ranch and one day we'll have to move. I own a small house in town that has the same view as you, but I won't be moving back to it. When our time is up, I'm selling everything and moving out of state to some place with a different view and a slower pace of life. :)

Nice "extra" yard. That definitely looks like a slower pace of life kind of place. Actually, having land like that requires work, but it's a good kind of work. :)

Beautiful cloud photo!

I like your motto: "All Nikon all the time." I got my first Nikon F in Tokyo in 1963, and now have four of them. I wouldn't consider using anything else, even though I have a lot of different brands of old film cameras.

I got some pictures of clouds similar to yours about 7 years ago. This is a composite of four images, stitched together to make a panorama. The colors aren't nearly as dramatic as yours, but the swirliing clouds are very similar.

Roy, those are some mean clouds!
I look back at all my colo photos from the front yard and 90% look fake with waaaay to much blue. But that was reality looking over the valley.

Well the top one looks like you might have used a polarizer on it, or maybe it's just the altitude. I've noticed that photos taken at high altitudes usually have really dark skies and brilliant white clouds. Of course, in the second one, neither a polarizing filter nor altitude would have had any effect on the clouds - you just get whatever they offer. Whatever it took, they both came out great.

I thought the clouds in my photo above would lead to some stormy weather, but they just blew away. Lots of people were out taking photos, and I even saw one on the TV weather report. The weatherman tried to explain what causes clouds like this, but I don't remember anything about what he said or what he called them.

And if you think those clouds look mean, check this one out. This was a hail storm that crossed far-south Dallas on May 3, 2000. It dropped hail up to about 2 inches in diameter and tore up all the cars and roofs in it's path, including in my neighborhood.

This is a composite of 5 images, and I don't remember any of the specifics of camera or exposure.

^^^Thanks. That flower shot was actually from last year. I had planted 6 flats, 288 flowers, of begonias in that flower bed. The knees and back were definitely stiff after that. :-)

A job well done. The back and knees should have recovered by now.
