Do you have your brides fill out an info questionaire before the wedding?

How do you go about getting as much information as you can about an upcoming wedding? Do you just call them and talk about the wedding and take notes from there? I assume you have them send you a timeline of events (We get some detailed, some not so detailed)? Do you have them fill out an information sheet that you then take to the wedding to refer back to for things?

I want to know as much as I can about my upcoming weddings, and i'm trying to figure out the best/most efficient way to get it.

We generally try to meet with the B&G a couple of weeks before the wedding. During the meeting we talk in general and go over the details of the day. I always tke notes, but having a re-written questionarre or form sounds likea good idea.

I've just finished creating a form which I'm using for my weddings this year. Partly for confidence and reassurance for myself and to ensure I cover all odds and ends.

It includes phone numbers, addresses for locations, timings for the day etc. It's a form I can use for future jobs to keep things consistent and organised.

I think if the couple see the form it could instil confidence in them too, with them seeing I know what I need, and that I'm prepared.

There's a form that's part of my contract that lists the where/when/who/what of the wedding.

I used to have a form which was part of my contract. They were supposed to complete and return it to me with their final payment. That didn't always happen or it was often not completed to my satisfaction.

What I do now is have a very casual discussion about their day during our initial meeting. Then I schedule a one-month-to-go discussion to go over the logistics of the day in more detail. But it's a discussion from which I am taking notes.

I have them fill out a few questionnaires. One has information so I can build up a timeline and I use the final consult to talk with them with any issues I may have with it. I have another that gives the bride and groom's contact information, including an address where I can send items. I also have a vendor's list with their contact information so I can contact them after the fact.

I am going to be building a customer satisfaction questionnaire to see where I can improve.

Yes, it's part of my shootQ workflow to send out a detailed questionnaire at 60 days out. Then at 30 days out I mail a handwritten card saying how I'm excited for their wedding, and I either write "thanks for filling out the questionnaire" or, "I'll be calling you in about 2 weeks to confirm everything, it would be great if you could fill out the questionnaire before then."

Bryan, that sounds exactly like how i'd like to be doing it. If you feel like sharing any of those forms let me know!

I have them setup in Tave and I keep updating them. How I made them was to just look at a timeline of a wedding I had already done and wrote out a question for each big event - Where the groom/bride was getting married, colors, # in bridal party, order of events at the reception, starting and ending times for each big event, formals list, etc.

We usually have them fill out information regarding formal portrait requests, and we'll naturally talk about the wedding details upon signing and by email until the date.

My contract has a form which lists the basics, time and date. I used to have a form I sent out, now I meet with customers and I fill it out myself, between a month and a week before their wedding. In the month leading up to the wedding I talk with them on the phone and by email to help them plan their day, so by the time of the wedding I've helped plan the day.

Most wedding questions can be answered with this question: "if it was my wedding, what would I want a photographer to do for me".
