Finally was able to shoot some soccer again for my older boys team.

All with the 1d classic, sigma 100-300 f4. SS was about 1250-1600 depending on light. ISO was 400. Let me know what you think. All are cropped for web.

Post work done in LR & onOne was used as well. This was a tournament with a couple of hundred teams. Backgrounds are a pain at tournaments. But we have to work with what we have. I'll have to get some of the defenders this weekend as they have another tournament.

Having gone through the period of my kids playing soccer, I know how challenging it can be: big field, small/fast players often with their backs to you. These are great shots. My only niggle is that some of them seem a tiny bit out of level. The mind's eye plays tricks with us by pushing the players closer to upright, which tilts the horizon. If you straighten the horizon, you might find that the shot is even more dynamic. But these are great nonetheless. Backgrounds can be frustrating, but you take what you can.

Nice shots.

LOL at Joe's comment about backgrounds, and I agree. You get what you get. #6 with #1's/#8's background would have been fantastic!

4 and 5 shuold be added to the This is gonna hurt thread!

Nicely done! Agree with the horizon comments.

Don't get me started on backgrounds... :)

Looks great! I'm not overly worried about the horizon line as the thin depth of field puts my focus on the players and the action.
