Thanks, John. I can't test that here at the office. The more I think about this the more I have to believe all will be fine with DPP, PS, LR etc.

If it's not, then, um - Houston...

I think I read somewhere this issue can be fixed by the latest firmware update.

Found this on dPreview:

"The firmware 1.1.2 can be found here

http://usa.canon.com …rk_iii#DriversAndSoftware (external link)

Release notes:
Firmware Version 1.1.2 incorporates the following improvements and fixes.
1. Supports a new accessory, GPS receiver GP-E2.

2. Fixes a phenomenon where a pink cast may develop over the image when the shutter is completely pressed with the camera’s power turned off (by the auto power off setting).

3. Fixes a phenomenon where the camera operation stops after one shot when shooting in High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode.

4. Fixes a phenomenon where the Shooting Date/Time in the EXIF data of the image shows a later time than the actual shooting time.
5. Fixes the time zone for the Samoa Islands.
6. Corrects errors in the Finnish menu screen."

Also, with Lightroom or photoshop, I couldn't even load the images without the updated software. So, try updating your firmware for your camera first...then also update your software for your photos...be it LR or PS. DPP will probably open it. It is a free download and you could try it out....it is a Friday afternoon, you know you're not really working.

Respectfully, there is no chance that the shutter was pressed when the camera was fully turned off. It creates the pink/purple cast each time shots are taken - without fail. And the jpegs are fine.

Has to be the Windows 7 software is in need of an update to handle RAW files from the 5D III. I'll know later tonight. Thanks.

S'all good. I just saw where the firmware fixed a similar situation where a cast was on RAW files. Hopefully, the software updates fix your issue.

It's a RAW converter issue. Same happens if you upload RAW files to an online service like Smugmug - it can't convert the RAW properly yet & you get the haze

DPP that shipped with the 5D3 didn't even work properly. The DPP update is needed.
