The 8-15 fisheye lens.
I was all prepared to purchase it today, did all of my prep and research and was all excited.
As I was headed to B&H, I got to thinking.
I want to do some more time lapse and other related photography this summer/fall, and I have been thinking of a motorized rail to add drama to the events. The fisheye is less money, damn how our minds work sometimes. So, I am going online this weekend to make the purchase.
Maybe in the winter or spring....

just a few of my thoughts...

I've looked bat it as a very specialized lens, and you have to like what it can do. I never liked what it does.

It's a fantastic lens, but it is very specialized. I rarely use mine.

Every so often, I get tempted, but then I tell myself that I could spend the money on a lens more suited to my style of shooting. A couple of months later, I go through the same process all over again…

I can relate to both of these posts.:D

I decided to wait until my next wave of thinking about using it comes through me.

I love some of the shots that have been taken with this lens but mine frustrates the hell out of me....I just don't have an artistic gene and it's needed more with the 8-15 than any other lens I own. :(

With all of your lenses, that is saying a lot! Keep working with it, art teachers say that you can learn to be artistic.

It depends on the person's style. Fisheye is not my style so I wouldn't consider it. Good thinking to hold off until you know you really want it rather than buying it, not using it, and have to sell at a loss.

I did have one advantage to help make my decision. I am in NYC 6-8 times a month. I went to B&H to try the lens on my camera. Even though I only tried it in the store, that did help me to decide on waiting.
I took about 10 images and got my fix... :D

There's a lot of other very good fisheye lenses out there for less if you know what size sensor you're using with it and don't need the zoom.

I love my Sigma 8mm F/3.5

Fisheye lenses can get old quick. About 15 years ago I bought a fisheye. For about 3 hours I had a ball with it. After that, I didn't touch it for 4 years. I ended up selling it on Ebay. Let it sit on someone else's shelf for the next 4 years!
