kinda weird lighting to work with...lot of pale blue LEDs, with some (hated) magentas, greens and deeper blues thrown in. the orange lighting didn't come out until after we were done, and the LED display panels also stayed mainly pointing down as some sort of weird drop panel ceiling.

we also couldn't shoot from the ~20' or so pit area in front of Thom. Still, not many shooters so it was easy to move around to get different angles (aside from one asshat who stayed in the nearest stage left corner to Yorke all of the show, aside from the ~30 seconds I finally coerced him to move from there so i could get some ultrawide shots).

Nice.

Just one question: did you use Auto white balance or not?

i pretty much left the WB in 'as shot' and didn't use 'auto' (which would really darken the hell of the blues).

Thank.
2nd though, as the lighting change all time, WB will be off with any setting regardless.
I like Radiohead music.
Hope you also enjoy their show while you work :)
The 2nd & 3rd are my personal favors.
Great stuff, thanks again for sharing.

with colored stage lighting, i don't get too worried about whatever the 'correct' white balance is...it's not like i'm gonna stick a grey card up for calibration. i will definitely play w/ the colors sometimes and render colors that weren't even used (ie, if i want to cross-process a photo). sometimes it's nice to move the WB until you get realistic skin tones, but a lot of times I don't think i need to shift it at all. the 5D3 seems like it gets more accurate color than the 5D2.

i guess that strays a bit from the editorial aspect of journalism, but that doesn't particularly bother me.

Nice work! :)

I once had a conversation with a lighting guy about LEDs and he seemed to think that it wasn't very flattering on people.

Totally agree. Sometimes it's just not possible. With certain colored lighting you're just never going to get the skin tone or WB that you might want. Good stuff, really like them.

Thanks elrey.

on an entirely different note, this was the best sounding outdoor concert i've ever been to. amazing clarity and separation.

sold, some of the best wide shots that I've seen from the tour. Too many boring Thom shots in most sets, and glad the sound was great. Nothing beats the live experience of Idioteque

Thanks Ian. Thom's certainly the focal point of the band, but it's definitely a band and not a solo + hired guns thing.

McGinnisM, i hope you had a great show!

Evidently a portion of the stage collapsed before their Toronto show. One person killed and three injured. Terrible news.
