I am in development of a Ring LIght(modifier only without electronics) that will work on all brand of strobes(using just one regular head) or constant light. I decided to make one because I wanted one for myself and sense I don't use a ring light that much, spending $1000+pack wasn't going to happen. Also, being able to use existing strobes that I already have and having more power capabilities without being worried about blowing a $600 ring bulb seemed like something everyone may be interested in.

It is half way made and I have been doing some testing with it a little this week. Attached is a test shot.

I am posting this to see if this may be something people may be interested in.

While interesting, I wonder if you've contemplated a used ABR800?

Is this for strobes or flashes?

The Bowens Ring converter works great for strobes. It can easily be modified for other mounts. If you can beat its $300 price I would be interested in it.

Its for strobes or any constant light source. We actually tested it out for video use as well. It seem to work well. http://player.vimeo.com/video/43484251 (external link)

It looks to be 300-350 pounds though, not dollars...at least from what Ive found.

I don't know what I would able to produce them for just yet, still working that out. I'll keep you posted though.
