One of my last babies to adopt and cup into these loving albeit trembling hands is the EF 35 f/1.4 L USM. This morning a truck came but it was not the brown truck, it was a red truck. So here I go continuing to wait forlornly. However, I am sure you all feel for me because you know how that is, you have been there yourselves.

Poor baby, at least you have all that other "stuff" to play with.

Have you gone out and scoured the neighborhood? Maybe brownie can't find your house. I know years ago when I was waiting for my first computer to be delivered, a whopping intel 086 processor (remember those, before the 186, 286, 386, 486 and then the Pentium?) I literally stood downstairs and chased every UPS truck I saw. Turned out, the guy mailing it to me hadn't even shipped it yet.

I feel your pain. My camera has been repaired and is waiting for me to pick it up. I'd be on my way right now were it not for a small snowstorm.

MDJAK, I knew you were a sensitive sort of a man, with passion. My 20D CMOS is so fouled up that the camera is outta commission, gotta buy something to clean it with.
BTW, have you ever decided what to do about that chubby baby you fell in love with, the 300 f2.8 ?

Thank you. Parenting is a strange vocation, regardless of how many children one has, there is always enough love to go around to each one of them.

Doesn't the brown truck always make a late delivery? Almost always when someone is pressuring you to go eat out or go to the store. Then you are wondering if you'll make it back in time for the delivery but you don't want to dissapoint the wife/girlfriend because you feel guilty for spending so much on your camera/lens/computer/toys.

Yes, Petkal! I feel your pain. I too am waiting for brownie for my own special toys, checking the tracking page, marking its progress on the map, wondering why in the world my new friends stayed in Des MOines for 27hours and some minutes, cursing the recent midwest snowstorm, rejoicing to see they are in town and on their way to my breathless welcome! every delivery, much the same!
Hope the brown truck arrives at your place soon. Mine should be here around 3 pm.
I must remember though, a wise man keeps telling me that good things are worth the wait!
Enjoy your new babies!!

I'm doing exactly the same thing. Got today off since the wife needs a routine opthalmologist's visit and after the pupils get dilated you can't see to drive. So I'm sweating out this happening before her appointment:

 Package Progress:

Date/Time Location Activity
Dec 9, 2005
4:53 A.M. LAUREL, MD, US OUT FOR DELIVERY
3:32 A.M. LAUREL, MD, US ARRIVAL SCAN
12:44 A.M. LAWNSIDE, NJ, US DEPARTURE SCAN
Dec 8, 2005
11:19 P.M. US BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED
10:28 P.M. LAWNSIDE, NJ, US ARRIVAL SCAN
8:35 P.M. MASPETH, NY, US DEPARTURE SCAN
4:01 P.M. MASPETH, NY, US ORIGIN SCAN

Good news is UPS knows what to do when I'm not home, bad news is that occasionally B&H decides (for reasons unknown to me and seemingly entirely at random) to require a signature at the door without possibility of redirect or other.

By the time it's eventually delivered into your trembling arms I reckon that baby will be a big fat 300 f2.8. Mrs Petkal must be thankful her child bearing days are over. From the look of that snow I reckon it will be other side of New Year before s/he arrives.

Mine's arrived - 70-200 IS. Now to see if there are any ducks around. Otherwise, dogs. 200 mm ought to keep me far enough away . . .

Absolutely! Brown came to my door a couple of weeks ago with my new 135 L and 200 L at 7 pm - just as we were leaving to go to a concert. I had worked from home that day to be sure to be home when the package arrived, but I still almost missed it.
