I noticed that the whole viewfinder will blink in red color if the focus lock aquired.

If I turn off the viewfinder illumination, i won't be able to find a way just to make the selected focus point to blink in red color.

I've play around the setting and I think either way would has it's limitation.

How's your guys setting or workaround for this limitations?

I have VF display illumination enabled, and 'Display all AF Points(C.FnIII)'disabled. (on a 7D)
It does what you want it to do, or I didn't understand your question properly.

What AF points do you have selected? Are you using all 61 ? Zones? Single point?

Single focus point. I also disable ''Display all AF Points'.

When the focus lock is obtained, the selected focus point will blink in red( if VF display illumination is enabled), but the whole viewfinder will be in red as well for a while.

If the VF display illumination is disable then the selected focus point only blink without illumination.
