I'm having a bit of an issue with image quality and not really sure if i'm just expecting to much

equipment
60D
18-200 canon ef-s lens
50mm 2.5 macro lens

Now about 4 weeks ago I bought
60D
tamron 18-270 lens
canon 50mm 2.5

very unhappy with the quality
so went back to the shop and they tried out the lens and decided it had a focus issue
so replaced for a canon 18-200 as the replacement tamron still looked bad
I had my laptop in the shop

next day still unhappy went back
and we tried a 50mm 1.4 and a 100mm canon lenses and also a 17-40L on the new 60D body they decided the body was at fault
so replaced the 60d - about 10 days ago

but i'm still not convinced , and tried on a different quality screen - but i only have a
sony laptop with dedicated graphics - 1600x900 resolution
and a new i5 Fujitsu which does not have a great display - 1366 x 768

so not sure its the screen, eyesight or what

I have taken some pictures at a different shop using their 60d and 18-200 canon lens and they look the same

so i think it must be me

now i was playing with some iso settings ready for taken some marine fish tomorrow and I have taken some shots of a vase , clock and an apple with both lenses on a tripod with remote control release
manual focus, used live view and x10 focus and also auto focus single shot

I have some images on here taken with both lenses as wella flower and a brick wall
images from canon 50mm & 18-200 zoom

https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1190605
https://photography-on-the.net …?p=14499676&postcount=205

I have looked through POTN and seen pictures taken with the same lens and they still look off

I can load the images here - but whats the best way to show a 20MB file here
do i crop and then reduce the pixels and compress with jpg
or ?

i also took some images onn my old pro1 - but not happy with those

any one got a high quality image from a 60D - 18-200 I could be emailed

EDIT
I just realised looking at various forums, that on the 18-200 IS ,I left the IS on while on a tripod and the article mentioned it would degrade the quality of the image
it also talked about setting up the camera so it was 50x the focal length and largest aperture - so on the 50mm - that would be 2500mm 250cm 2.5m i was only about a foot 2/3 or less of a m

edit
i have also put the full RAW in DNG format on this share - 4 files of the bricks and flowers approx 20Mb eaxch

Consider the Canon 17-55 2.8 or 3rd party version. Another one to very seriously to consider would be the Canon 15-85 . A second lens to consider to mate with either of those would be a Canon 70-200 f 4 l is.. Now you will have some decent glass and would be a happy camper.. Assuming its in your budget.

thanks - Bianchi
do you have any images from these lenses you could email me

was not planning on buying any new glass - as thats about £1600 + with the body at £800 did not have that budget
15-85 = £600
70-200 = £950
17-55 = £710

the 18-200 cost me £300
so quite a big outlay and was not planning on spending any more - spent £1400 on this set up

thanks any way - perhaps I will see second hand and ask them to take back the other lenses as i'm not happy

just looking at a load of images taken at the shop
on 3 60d bodies and a nikon
with my 2 lens a 100mm and 50mm 1.4 and they all look bad

EDIT

The link to a flower, I see "hair" like objects on the branch. Why do you think it isn't sharp?

For reference, images from a Canon 60D and a Canon 18-200mm image stabilizer lens:

For whatever reason, this combination of the 60D and 18-200mm IS lens has been effective here.

Can you convert to JPG and post some stuff? I wouldn't mind commenting, but downloading the RAW files is a bit excessive.

^See above. What do you want to see?

In my opinion, I enjoyed my "gear" more after I stopped visiting this forum and worrying. Unless everything you shoot is completely soft, just stop worrying about it and keep shooting.

Forget tad sharp image when zoomed, especially @ 100%, because it will never happen. Not even a $2000 lens.

otoh, stop pixel peeping ;)

had a 73-300 which went back to canon and found to be faulty and that was as a result of a couple of days cricket shooting on 10 rolls 36 exposure slide film
and 2 weeks ago
Just purchased new
having had a Tamron 18-270 lens which I took back twice because of focus issues , which they agreed with on a different Camera in the End
and then the next day , also found the 60D was a problem and they tried with a 100m L and 50mm 1.4 , they also replaced the 60D because of a focus issue

I'm a little concerned the new 60D and Canon 18-200 is sharp
and maybe paranoid now :)

but today its marine fish - so see how i got on

The 18-200 can be reasonably sharp under good light. But of course you can't compare to lenses such as 17-55 or any 70-200 for example.
