Shooting girls

My girlfriend today complained to me that all I shoot are girls, I don't know if its just me but I don't know very many guys that willing to model I just told her that I will shoot what I want and whoever I want to.

I find that women are much more willing to be photographed than men. If I'm photographing people at a street event, two women will almost always say yes while two men are much less likely to say yes. Men are more likely to agree to a pic if they are alone or in a group of guys. Younger people are more likely to want to be photographed than older ones. I base this info on about 30k shots a year, so for my little corner of the country I believe it's pretty accurate.

Sounds like she's jealous of you spending time with other women.

Possibilities:
-Get her involved in a few shoots, holding a reflector or something. That way if she does feel uber jealous she can see how professional you are and that you aren't just making love to the models after the shoot lol.
-Shoot her, mostly just to spend time with her and make her feel special.
-If she says something like that again, mention that models are predominantly female but make sure to emphasize that she's the only one you're attracted to, be all mushy and stuff women like that.

I've shot mainly women , just for the simple fact most men aren't into photo shoots. I've told my wife she's welcome to come, but she never does.

I've even tried to take her somewhere to photograph her and she isn't interested, so I just kinda do my thing with my photography.

Your girlfriend will have to eventually decide if she's ok with your photography decisions or not.

I don't have a lot of experience with photography but if I ever start taking pictures of models then I would definitely shoot women because they are simply beautiful and provide a lot of artistic and creative opportunities. Just my two cents.

Like Dr. Phil says, she's entitled to her feelings. Hopefully you broke it down for her a little more subtly...

Lose the girlfriend or be prepared to sell your gear. She associates your work/hobby with intimacy and therefore it will always be an issue for her. It happens all the time to musicians and no matter what you say or the lengths you go to appease her insecurities it will sadly never be enough.

+1 to involving her. my fiancee assists be with just about all my shoots with other women. It helps them to relax + she's a good assistant and helps catch details like fly-away hairs or the edge of a bra strap showing.

As a photographer, in the vast majority of cases, you'll almost always be working with far more women than men. Women are the ones who usually desire the photos, buy the photos, hire the photographer, etc.... Photography is my sole job (working mainly with families, youth sports, special events, kids, etc....) and I would guess that my client base is driven by about 85%-90% women.

Time to start photographing birds.

Just for the record, this is true. PPA developed stats that said exactly the same thing--87%, actually, of "photography purchasing decisions" are made by women.

When it comes to family work, I don't even bother talking to husbands. Even if the husband brings up the subject (generally, because the wife has said, "We need a family portrait") I make a bit of happy talk and then say, "How about if I get in touch with your wife and work out the details?"

Then the husband gets this big relieved look and I hand him my card.

If you want to photograph a man, talk to the woman in his life.

Good. Otherwise it'll just get worse.

Sometimes it's not the subject but the time spent shooting...

Aircraft are my mistresses but I make sure I don't ignore my wife in the pursuit of my muse.

Put the camera down and go out for a nice evening with your lady.

I am married and I still shoot a lot of females. However, I don't rub my wife's nose in the images by asking her what she thinks of them....

I don't think that's a problem...depending on how you're asking.

I'm in my late 50s--my wife is a few years younger. I photograph high school seniors and lots of women younger than my wife--as we've said, that's the primary market.

Now, I think my wife is lovely but we both know she's not a nubile 20-year-old. Yet, I have no problem asking her what she thinks of anything I do.

I'd have to say, though, that my work is straight portraiture and business portraiture. I do some testing for a local modeling agency, pretty straightforward catalog-style stuff, which is as close as I come to "model photography." I specialize in 40s-style for my "glamour" work, and I don't do boudoir.
