And how many of you have suffered with a scratched lens problem which you believe to be a design fault?

I got my G12 in Dec of 2010 and it's been my only camera until I got my 60D 6 weeks ago or so. I've had zero issues with it. I have lots of great photos and the knowledge it took to get them.... the knowledge translates very well to the 60D.

Bought mine when they were released. No problems at all but I keep the Lensmate adapter tube on full time with a UV filter always on.

on a slightly off topic but related question: Does anyone have the Canon FA-DC58B adapter tupe? Do you leave it on full time? When used with a circular polarizer do you have to reposition the polarizer every time you zoom (in or out)? Thanks.

I've had mine for over a year and haven't had any problems with it yet. The Canon adapter doesn't rotate when you zoom in or out.

I have a G11 I purchased used.

I don't believe the lens was scratched when I purchased the camera, but is something that occured while I was attempting to see just how close I could get to something in macro setting.

Good to hear that the scare-mongering doesn't hold up - here at least.

Interesting to see that there have been 306 views of this thread but only 12 responses. Timid G12 owners or what? :)

I think many of the G12 owners use the G12 as a "pocket" camera instead of lugging all the dslr equipment around and probably figure 12 positive answers are enough. Plus, these owners do not want to carry around attachments or they would carry the dslr equipment. Just a guess:D
