Looks like some good competition for Canon's S100.
1" sensor from Nikon series
Zeiss T* 29-105mm f1.8-4.9 zoom
1080p60 video
Looks to be about the same size as the S100

The Nikon 1-series CMOS is NOT manufactured or designed by Sony, but rather manufactured by Aptina and designed by Nikon. The size will be about the same (if the rumor is true), but I doubt they will have the embedded PD AF that the Aptina-sourced Nikon product has. AngryCorgi

I meant to say "like the Nikon 1 series". It's 20MP, too, so that's a dead giveaway that they aren't the same sensor. Taylor

(carrying a dSLR all the time just ain't feasible).

The price bracket is just too different, especially form the S95 refurbs and such. Way diff price bracket. However, I think it probably WILL impact sales of the G1x. Imho.

The Fuji X10 does. The RX100 might, but it will need to be impressive in real life. As for the price, unless it is a monster hit I would expect it to be selling for $500 by Black Friday.

As long as sony includes stereo mics and good AF during video as per their sony point and shoot line (hx100, hx9v etc) they will have a very strong product. Flickr
