Whats so great about them?
I see everyone ecstatic to buy the $350 dollar 5d3 grip. I just can't understand why.
Is it just so you can shoot in portrait mode with the feel of having your camera in landscape? Or is there more to it?

But hey, they say it's not the gear right:rolleyes:

Much better balance when using longer lenses. (Or even shorter ones if you have bigger hands.)

They just make the camera feel so much better in the hand.

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

This is what I need to hear. My grip for my 5DIII arrived today and obviously not use to it. I was wondering if I was gonna have buyers remorse, but I'm hoping that the more I use it, the more comfortable I will be with it.

I like both the ease of use when shooting portrait, as well as having 2 batteries in there. I know that a ton of times I was saved at a shoot because I had 2 batteries. So for me a grip is worth it.

So for those of you who make the batter case. How long does it usually take you to change batteries? Also, how many extra sets of batteries can you buy for the price of just ONE battery grip

I think the grip makes the 5D3 much more sexier.

Took me about 10 seconds to pop them out and put new ones in. As far as extra batteries, check the Sell forum, there are people selling batteries all the time, OEM and 3rd part ones, whatever you're comfortable with. When I had my 7D I had 6 batteries total, 2 in the grip and 4 extra.

Nice... But since I've upgraded to a 1D3 and 1D4 I don't need no stinking grip... ;)

Yes, the last can be called a rhetorical question. Since everyone talks about the grip supplying more battery to the camera, I would think buying 6 batteries for the same price as one grip would be smarter. So far I have, distributes the weight well, and supplies extra juice. Those are really the only reasons that you all buy the grips?

It's like underwear. Some like briefs, some like boxers and some like none at all.

Try one out, and if you don't like it, sell it.

Or do what Jardiniboy said, rent it to see. Or buy one and if you don't like it do as Todd said and sell it. Shouldn't be a hard sell, grips sell all the time.
