Got myself a Kenko TC

It'll be here next week, i have high hopes

The high end Kenko TC have been proven by DP Review to only cause about a 10% drop in MTF scores on the Canon 70-200mm zooms.

I have this Kenko and use it with 70-300L
Works fine (AF at F/8 is ok) with my crop camera, so with your lens witch is faster, Kenko must be excellent

I also just realized i can slap it on my macro too The idea of a 140mm f/4 IS 1.4:1 macro is rather appealing!

I just got one of these myself after selling a Sigma. The Sigma wouldn't AF with the 100L but the new Kenko does.

I am curious as to why you didn't get the other Kenko 1.4x TC?

I know there is the MC4, the DGX (which may be the MC4 now?) and the Pro 300, but haven't seen any reviews as to why one is $100 more than the other.

I've got one of these TC's and have regularly used it on my 70-200 2.8 IS L to great effect. I've also used it on a 100-400 L on various bodies and it retained AF on all of them, with very good IQ too, and also used it on my Sigma 150-500 OS, and while I couldn't get it to AF, when it was on my 60D or 7D and focussed using Liveview the outcome is amazing. I bought mine off ebay for around £120 so I got quite a bargain.

sorry for bringing this back to top, but I have some questions and I do not want to flood the forum with new threads.
I just bought 2 TC ( Kenko MC4 1.4x and 2x).
1st question: is any of you experiencing heavy overexposure with any of those above? Is it me not reading the manual and doing something wrong? I see the focal length and aperture correctly reported and I am using evaluative metering in Av mode.
2nd question: if so is this constant?
3rd question: I thought that I will loose the AF with both of them ( because of the aperture going to f/8) on my 5Dmk2 and not on EOS3. It looks like the AF is still there on my digital camera. Any idea why?

Hey all, Just wanted to report in, I have received the TC and I've been playing with it, but i also ended up with an upper respiratory infection and havnt gotten to shoot with it as much as i want.. I havnt imported any of the shots I took yet but they did look pretty good on the rear screen

Ya know, I noticed that it seems to overexpose a hair too, So its not just you, Not sure whats causing it but it does seem to be fairly consistent, But this is just judging off my rear screen and not importing them...

As for why you still have AF, Not sure

For me it does not look like 1/3 stop of overexposure ( that is what I understand from : 'it seems to overexpose a hair too') . It looks more like 1 full stop, even more. That does not bother me too much, just wanted to make sure that it is nothing wrong with my copy.

For all the others, if you need any samples in any of the combinations : 70-200 2.8 IS ( version 1) , Kenko 1.4x TC, Kenko 2x TC, let me know and I'll do that.
