Actually mine came this morning.
Here in the UK www.ukhighland.co.uk (external link) are the official stockists for pixel.
They selling the grip at £69 postage paid
Pixel are a well known 3rd party manufacture and make some quality goods.

Anyway,
Got it out the box and it feels good, a nice rubber feel on the grip.
The battery compartment is a little different to other grips I have used on the 7D and 5DII, not sure if it is the same on the official BG-E11, not a problem, just felt a little wiered.

There was a nice handy clip to clip the original battery cover in to the grip so you dont lose it.

Load the battery magazine with 2 x EP6 and slot in, there is a small plastic clasp that you then twist to lock the magazine. This is the only flimsy peice to the whole grip and I fear this could be easily snapped.

Over all, the whole grip feels great and makes the body feel a lot more steady and easier to hold. I hate using bodies with a heavy lens without a grip.

All the function buttons worked as expected and even my unbranded ep6 batteries dispaly the power usage in the battery info screen.

Not had chance to test it much but cant see any real issues.
If anyone has any questions then please ask away and will try and help.

Fantastic report.

I only have one curiosity (and not sure if you can make that determination for me). Do you or can you tell if the Pixel grip also has a metallic frame?

Hmmm, Not sure what your asking here.
Is it the material used on the grip you are asking?
Pretty much the whole of the drip is covered in the same material as what you find around the hand grip of the main 5d3 body.
The only plastic showing is on the left and right sides. (minimal at that)

Yeah, aside from the rubbery/grippy material... are the non-covered areas metallic feeling? Or more plastic like?

The reason I ask is because the 5D3's non-covered surfaces feel metallic (minus the battery tray cover, though I'm not 100% certain on that one). The non-covered surfaces has that cool (temperature wise) feel to it. I'm guessing (but I could be wrong) that the Pixel grip might be made with more polymer/plastic to cut down on production cost. But I'm not curious enough to buy one and find out for myself. :D

These are just no name Chinese knock offs, they just make a up a name and put them on them.

FWIW I'm running a knock off battery in my camera and it works better than the OEM one, but I always remove it after every shoot.

In comparing pictures it looks like the only difference is the power button location for the grip. On the Pixel it's located on the back of the grip by the jog dial and on the Canon it's locate on the side of the grip.

I have the Canon version, I have no experience with the Pixel and it may very well be a fine product, I just prefer to stick with OEM products.

Ahhh okay. Now i see. Just wanted to see how this would look like on a users camera instead of seeing the actual product shot. It's either i drop the cash to get the canon OEM or drop the cash and get the pixel version and buy a used 17-40L ;).

I think getting the pixel grip + 17-40 would be much better.. I don't see a point in spending $350-400 on the canon grip if the pixel grip has a decent build.

The plastic is more like plastic, certianly not a metali feel.

I am using it 3 weeks now, it is solid, it works just ok!

I have one problem though, it drains battery like crazy! I was moving last week, and took 20-30pics only, yesterday i grabbbed my camera it wasn't even turning on... I removed rhe battery magazine and put it back, it help for 5 more shots... Anyways, it drained my batteries a lot faster than 5dmk3 itself...

I guess the $200 saved means one can afford 4 extra batteries to accommodate the faster battery drain. :(
