I took this a few days ago in the harsh sunlight. The high shutter speed worked perfect for blacking out the background for the most part ;)

I like them too. I perhaps wish that in the first there was /something/ more in focus, but this may be some ridiculous technical hang-up (mine) that actually has no bearing on me enjoying the photo.

I might also remove the mostly occluded rightmost petal / corner on the second shot; but that would be super-niggling in preparation for a print.

I might have to disagree with the above post. I actually like the short dof on this pictute. It makes the black and white effect more interesting.


The goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer.
