I finished up the first day of my fundraiser shots for the swim team. We raised $1100 selling shooting sessions ($5 portrait, $15 action, with all the digital files at the end, plus $10 prints of the team). I shot for 2.5 hours, so not all of these could be in the golden hour :)

No pixel editing done on these, just RAW processing in DPP. I couldn't get the pool to myself, as two teams are using it for practice, so there's some stuff in the background on some...

Things I learned: 3/4 shots on butterfly will hide asymmetry in the wings. I need to start manual pre-focusing the backstroke launches. I need to experiment with flash, if it can keep up, to fight the shadows a bit.

Those are some great shots! Well done. The symmetry of the first one is great!

Thanks guys. The first two are 10-y.o. twins, and they win everything. I can't take any credit for the symmetry on that one :) Some of the younger swimmers look like drowning victims when they're doing the butterfly!

The smile on the back launch is my favorite too. I wish I would have manual focused for it though. Next time. I think I may be able to use ML's trap focus to do this quickly. Need to experiment...

#6 is my favorite for the smile (she looks like she is having fun) with 4 & 5 close behind.. I think you caught the hand positions very well.

These are great shots, were you hanging off the edge of the pool? :)

:)

I laid down on a Therm-a-Rest with the lens right on the edge of the gutter. 25yd lanes. 70x200 on aps-c (well, I guess my sig gives that away)

Crop the grass out of 4 and 5 and they are all great shots.... but the grass does nothing but distract. But yes, very nice shots.

Good point about the grass. Didn't catch that. Thanks!
