I'm totally sold on the 40mm.
I tried my friend's one and I'm totally sold on the 40mm.

I thought for sure that this lens came out because they were ready to release this camera. Now that I know you have to use an adapter with this set up, I am sitting here scratching my head. It's still going to be less bulky on the new Canon than any other lens. Shame it needs an adapter though. Dave.

Who know, I may eventually get the 40mm. For now, I'll stick with the 50mm f1.4 on my 7D. The size difference is not that important to me. But as have already been covered several times in this thread - they do not want a mirrorless camera with EF or EF-S mount. Why make a camera mirrorless if they have to make it as big as a camera with a mirror? 5DMk2 + BG-E6 | 40D + BG-E2N | 350D + BG-E3 + RC-1 | Elan 7E | Minolta Dimage 7U | (Gear thread)

So after waiting to see what Canon was going to do on the mirrorless front I'm thinking of picking up the shorty 40 and putting on a 7D/5D mk III as a carry-around kit. Anyone have any suggestions on a small, simple, cheap case or other form of protection I can put such a rig into to protect it while in a bag/backpack, yet keep it somewhat accessible? Leffe67

I sold my 50mm 1.8 as I prefer the extra 10mm on a crop. Traveling to San Fran and napa this week, expecting the 40 to be my most used lens. However, if want to use with bigger zoom, 40D too bulky to fit lens down (would be great with rebel body though). Thanks, this looks like a good one at a good value. Leffe67
