To all....I have a question !

7D + 24 L II vs 5D MIII + 40 pacanke

What combo is better ?

5DIII + 24LII:p

You seriously can't compare the 24LII and the 40 pancake....regardless of what body you are putting them on.

5D3 Gripped / 17-40L / Σ35 / 40 Pancake / Zeiss 50 MP / Σ85 / 100L Macro / 70-200 f2.8L II IS / 430 EX II / 580 EX II / Canon 2xIII TC / Kenko Ext. Tubes

5D3/40mm for me, easy! Why? Because 7D at Xxx ISO at 1.4 will be pretty much the same quality as 5D3 at X,xxx ISO at 2.8. PLUS it has better features, state of the art technology (vs 7D's 2009 technology) and you will get more use out of your current lenses with a full frame rather than an outdated crop body.

Outdated crop body? What materialism. A world of 7D owners must quickly do something or they will be unable to take good pictures and will be the laughing stock.

For me it is :D heck, my 5D2 is outdated big time in terms of AF. I can’t wait to get a 5D3

But from that perspective, the 5D2 was outdated before it was even released. So the question then is why you bought one ;)

Indeed, after all, everyone knows that good photos are a direct result of having the best and newest gear, and that older equipment can only take poor, uninteresting rubbish. Its all in the camera I tell you, nothing to do with the photographer.

On a more serious note, I'd pick the 7D + 24L.

I'de take the 5d3 and pancake. As soon as you start adding to the to the 5d3, it should handily beat out the 7d. It's really a higher class of camera, similar to MF being a higher class above 35mm full frame.

I simply bought it for the full frame of it. I “upgraded” from 60D. In terms of IQ and most other things, I like it better than 60D, far far better. As for AF- not so much...

So the 5D2 has been usable - maybe even valuable - despite being released with an outdated AF system?

But if you spend the money on better glass for the 7D, you'll see better results with the 7D. Then when you upgrade to the 5D3, you'll have great glass from the start instead of having to wait to add to the 5D3 to get better results.

With a set budget/income for photography, going glass first in this case is going to give you better results.

Yes sir. You should know that as well ;)
The AF is fine with most of my zoom lenses I have/had. But it's a pain to deal with my 24L (which I sold a few days ago) and 85L II at 1.2. I can get great shots with centre point but I cannot recompose since the DOF is so thin.
That's why I want the 5D3. It's 61 point AF is magnificent!!

But 24L II is really a higher class of lens too...

You know, tough call actually. F1.4 on crop is like using f2.2 on FF, so the 24L+7D has a slight advantage. But not much. The 40mm is probably sharper at f2.8 than the f1.4 is at at f1.4.

Ēxactly!! ^^^ Most people DON'T understand the fact that full frame will change your DOF. Not only that it might be almost the same but you will get more use out of your other lenses!
