Getting hot here in Texas. I hate to leave my gear in the car even inside my bag. What about leaving it in an ice chest, without the ice, inside the trunk?

Better than nothing, although you are going to get a lot of opinions that say why bother, it won't hurt the camera/lens. In my opinion, since you likely have an ice chest anyway, better safe than sorry. But keep in mind that the temperature will still rise, if the car is parked all day long in sunlight.

First of all I would never leave my gear in my car for any amount of time. What if someone breaks into your car and steals everything? I usually go shooting then take my gear home, then go out to do things. If I have to stop for something when I have my gear I take it with me.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I'd say since you have it ready anyways to do it. Just make sure you do remove the ice first. :D

I always have an insulated cooler in my car, mostly for bringing frozen foods, milk, etc. home. If I have to leave the camera, I run the AC stronger than usual and then put it in the cooler. That way it stays at the AC temperature while the rest of the car heats up.
