UPDATE: Emailed Cheetahstand.com about this and received a phone call the same night from Edward (Owner). He apologized up and down about this and said it was a quality check issue. He is shipping me out a new diffuser and qbox tomorrow. Edward also told me not to worry about sending this one back but instead to hang on to it as a spare. I have never EVER in my life received customer service like this. He also offered to do a full refund. AWESOME place to buy from. I will be purchasing more from them!

Just got my Cheetahstand qbox. Some small things in quality that have me concerned, does yours look like this? The pieces inside the box for hooking the screen in are all fraying and one of them is about to have a hole in it (pictured below). Also one of the metal tabs on the white screen is all smash and kind of hard to get it to snap into the qbox and stay (pictured below). Did you receive your qbox like this?

Nope, mine was not like that. However, Cheetah Stand has a ridiculously good customer service reputation. Id contact them by email. :)

You were right! The owner (Edward) called me when he got my email and is now sending a replacement. Edward was super nice and VERY apologetic.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but...technically, it doesn't make the light. ;)

I notice a HUGE improvement over an umbrella. The light does not seem as harsh.. no spill.. and i can keep it off the background.

I have made a few purchases from Edward at Cheetahstand over the years. I had an incident where there was a funky smell from the Qbox 24 that I purchased. It smelled like oil, but I could never find any thing in the case, or on the unit. One day I open the case up to use the Qbox, and there is a funky yellow stain on the diffusion cloth. It smelled like cutting oil used in a machine shop. I contacted Edward, and sent a new diffusion cloth that very day.

Edward could teach a lot of business people a lesson or two on Customer Service. I have recommended his products to others, and have not heard the first complaint...

Regards,

110yd

I'm wouldn't call is so much of an improvement as a difference. Softbooxes and umbrellas are two different tools for two different jobs (albeit, there is obviously some overlap). Point is, don't knock the umbrella. Still one of my favorite modifiers...cheap, portable, and easy to set up.

True story. I had an issue with the ball joint on the qbox 24. The whole joint broke and the metal just crumbled away. I emailed Edward and he sent me a replacement part the next day.
