I still think we are experiencing too much noise at low ISOs on my friend's 7D. Here are some crops at ISO 100 and it sure looks to me that there might be too much noise. Your opinions would be appreciated.

Shouldn't you use the same lens to make a comparison? 7D MKII ■ 10-22 ■ 15-85 ■ 28-135 ■ Σ 50-150 ■ 70-200 f4L ■ 100-400L ■ 580EX II

In fact, I like OOF images better for comparing noise, so that I am not drawn to any real detail. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

Jun 06, 2012 22:28 | #5 TeamSpeed thanks for the informative reply. These images were all shot in Raw and then converted to jpgs for forum posting. For what it's worth we also mounted my 70-200 to his 7D and there was still the same noise patterns. 1DX, ID MKIII, 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L, 16-35 2.8L, 100 macro, 600EX-RTs, ST-E3-RT, Einsteins, Kacey Beauty Dish with a cracked grid, yada yada

Jun 06, 2012 22:45 | #8 All images were taken with the same settings on a tripod. AV mode at 5.6 ISO 100. The 5D was shot with the 70-200 @ 200mm and the 7D with a 18-135 @ as close to 125mm as we could guess. The 7D shots were not underexposed. 1DX, ID MKIII, 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L, 16-35 2.8L, 100 macro, 600EX-RTs, ST-E3-RT, Einsteins, Kacey Beauty Dish with a cracked grid, yada yada

Just because your settings are the same does not mean the exposure are the same. Unless you were in controlled lighting conditions. Get that in your head or you can have some badly exposed photos. http://bubble-trees.com/

The intent of this thread was to see if other 7D users have had similar findings with regard to noise. 1DX, ID MKIII, 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L, 16-35 2.8L, 100 macro, 600EX-RTs, ST-E3-RT, Einsteins, Kacey Beauty Dish with a cracked grid, yada yada
