I definitely see a line about 1/3 of the way down. The top 1/3 is darker compared to the bottom 2/3 of the image. Not sure if I answered your question, though.

BTW, is that your image or did you pull it from another site?

How long was the exposure? That might be the curtain coming down and covering half the sensor and then the lighting happened and lit the rest of the scene brighter. That would be quite the timing!

AJ , my buddy shot this image here in Montana 2 days ago. Seems every other frame shot had that double exposure. I've been shooting digital for years and never seen this happen to me. Hope to have an answer to this issue.

Aha! Very good explanation, Jack.

I was going to say, it looks like the curtain was closing just as the lightning strike occurred. bad timing... Just a split second later and that would not have happened.

Looks like your buddy needed to use a slower shutter speed. Did all his "bad" pictures all take place on this lightning event?

JakAHearts ... That was exactly what I told my buddy. Now that narrows it down. I'll have him check his HISTOGRAM/INTEL. Thanks ~

If it happened more than once then chances are it was not the courtain... the chances of lighting happening at mid courtain movement various times seems pretty small to me...

There is not simply the issue of lightning striking precisely as the second curtain is closing...there should NOT ever be an overall density difference in the two halves of the sky!!!

I's say the camera needs to go in for servicing...it isn't normal!
