I'm looking for a battery grip to pair with my 50D (BG-E2N). It seems that Canon doesn't make them anymore, so the only new ones I could find were third party. If you guys and gals were in my situation would you just buy a used Canon or a new third party, and if the latter of the two, which brand?

I am currently using a Phottix Battery Grip for my 60D and very pleased with the quality of it. (also using the same brand's battery too)

I've also been using Phottix grips for quite awhile with both my 20D and 50D,,,no problems.

BG-E2 also can be used on a 50D. It's not weather sealing, actually only difference is that there's no rubber to seal the battery cabin.
A lot of people sell 20/30/40/50D gripped, try to get grip from them..uhh
Try to go to ebay, a lot of them there.

I got my BG-E2 for under $40.00 used on ebay. It's a good way to go.

I picked up a 50D a few months ago, and had to make the same decision, I ended up getting a BG-E2N from the Classifieds here...

Buy it nice, or buy it twice... I'd prefer my gear didn't fail over saving a few dollars... my BG-E2N was $95 shipped, found here in the Classifieds.
