If I bought the 5d3 on someone elses credit card(gave them the cash and they ordered for me). What do I do about registering and warranty service?
The card billing address matches my address that I would put on any service slips or whatnot. Would I be ok registering my camera with canon in MY name? Also, when I want to send the camera in for service, I know that they ask for the receipt(which has my mothers name on it) would it be ok to send my camera in for service with MY name on any paperwork(although the receipt has my mothers name)?

Also, I've bought a couple of used lenses. My question is, if I would like to send my camera along with my lenses into Canon to be calibrated, would my lenses have to be under warranty? Or is it fine that just my camera is still under the 1 year warranty?

But hey, they say it's not the gear right:rolleyes:

No one has bought a used lens and sent it to to canon with their camera to have the focus adjusted?

Name on the reciept doesn't matter I have done it before and it was fine. They care about the purchase date more than anything.

Register the gear in your name.

No different than receiving a gift, really.

So I can't send an out of warranty lens in with an in warranty camera and expect that the 2 will be micro adjusted?

Depends on the service center. I had an issue with 3 brand new lens so they took my out of warranty body and checked it free of charge. Just so happened camera was at one end of the tolerance scale and the lenses were on the other side. Point being they don't have to do it, however I am Cps gold member so they may have done as a courtesy. My advice is that if you are local to a center walk it in because it is at the discretion of he csr.

As Sam stated, it is similar to a gift. Put it in your name. As far as I know, CPS will not treat them the same, (i.e., OOW vs IW).
