Hot a light & my PP skills
Im still learning to shoot in small places.
These were single softbox & subject was approx 2ft from backdrop.
I was approx 6ft from subject.
Any tips would be appreciated.
IMO, possibly the best idea might be to scout an alternate location at which to shoot your images. You are stacking the cards against yourself when trying to shoot portraits in cramped spaces.
Sometimes, a bit of extra space can be gained by posing your subject in one room and shooting from another room or hallway through a door. This would of course be predicated by the layout of where you are shooting.
Re softness: I have seen a lot of images that looked pretty soft but, the softness resulted from the image host.
I use smugmug.com and have had no problems with softness nor with uploading full size images. I have been very happy with smugmug and consider it well worth the small charge they require.

I was exceptonally happy with smugmug when a virus infected all my hard drives (C drive + at least three external hard drives) and I couldn't access my images. Most of the shots I really cared about were safe for me on smugmug.
