My setup has been lacking a decent telezoom for a long time now, and I still can't make up my mind... Whatever telezoom I get would have a major impact and has to fit nicely with my lens strategy ;)

First a quick rundown of what I have now, and how I use it.

17-40: land and cityscape, some portraiture (although barely since I got the 24-105)

24-105: walkaround and general purpose.

28 1.8: portrait party event low light etc. Considering selling this.

50 1.8: who doesn't have this.

85 1.8: almost exclusively use this for portaits. I almost always use this at f/2 and prefer the length and bigger aperture over the 100mm macro (before someone suggests I get rid of it).

100mm macro: used to have a lot of portraits, but nowadays mostly macro and some landscape

Some oddities:
Sigma 50mm macro: got it because I found one cheap and I was curious for a replacement to the Tokina 35mm macro on crop as a walkaround nature lens combining macro and some landscape. A bit more manageable than the 100mm and GREAT for food and tabletop photography.
Takumar 50mm f/4 macro preset: same as the sigma, but I got this because it's the best 1:1 macro lens of all time, with extremely odd bokeh.

I'd like a longer lens for nature, landscape and portraits...
The 70-200 F/4 IS would fit nicely with the 17-40 and 24-105.

I've been considering selling my 28 1.8 and 50 1.8 and going for the 35L. A 135L would fit nicely with the 35L and 85 1.8...

A 135L isn't very long, but together with the 300 F/4 IS, I'd still be covered in long lenses. The 300 F/4 IS also has a nice MFD, so it'll play nicely with my very macro oriented shooting...

The Tamron 70-300 is cheap and still quite decent for dragonfly close ups. The Canon 70-300L is very, very nice, but I'm not sure if I wouldn't rather have a 70-200 F/4 IS.

I used the 70-200 2.8 IS but found it generally too heavy as a single lens to walk around with.

Another long term option would be to ditch all my macro lenses and get an MP-E 65 + 135L. Maybe this is still the best plan.

Considering the above setup, what would you guys comment on the following (prices are guesstimations on the dutch market):

Keep 17-40, 24-105, 85 1.8

Sell 28 1.8 (~275)
Sell 50 1.8 (~70)
Sell 50mm macro (sigma and tak) (~175 + ~100)
Sell 100mm macro (makes me cry) (~350)

Buy 35L (~1350 new / 900 used)
Buy 65mm MP-E (~1000 new / 750 used - only after I sold the 100mm or last 50mm)
Buy 135L (750 used)
Ecevtually buy 300 f/4 IS (850 used)

If given the choice, would you rather buy the 70-200 F/2.8 IS + 1.4, or the 135L + 300 F/4 IS?

I'm tempted towards going for the 35L + 85 1.8 + 135L in one small bag.

Some of my lenses focus beyond infinity...!
