I'm trying to get a picture ready for print as an 8x10. In the crop module, I've selected 8x10 but I can tell the crop guides are off--it's looking more square than rectangle. Anyway, I crop it using the funky guides and then export it at 300 resolution, with "resize to fit" UNchecked.

Well, the picture comes out at 3790 x 3032 instead of 2400x3000. The original image size is 4224x3032.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

It's not squarish. You've got the right aspect ratio--you just have the image rotated. 3032/3791=2400/3000=0.8

I've never read anything about this, but I have noticed that when I rotate images, the aspect ratio looks different, even though it isn't.

Press the X key to rotate the crop box 90 degrees. And CHECK the resize box and type in the desired pixels for the longer side, the shorter side or both.

Possibly caused by an optical illusion because of the landscape aspect of the monitor you are viewing it on?
