Snow Bunting flock

This morning (Dec. 10)I happened across this Snow Bunting flock. The first shot was taken earlier, when Gary and I crossed paths ('twas nice to see ya Gary!). The second one a few hours later. They came closer as a nearby farmer on his tractor scared them towards me and I was already hiding behind some bush (BRRR!)

I personally find the second a bit dark, but the weather had temporarily turned dark and very blustery...

What a great experience. I miss good birdlife now I'm back in the UK.

Nice shots Dan. I like them both. The first one is better than the few I took this morning. Your shot is sharper and has many of them with open wings whereas mine have few with spread wings. I should have leaned against that other post. It looks like they did indeed come in closer on your second stop. The shot isn't that dark considering how the light changed........nice. That was quite a large flock...must have been well over 300 birds...still smiling thinking of all the chatter they make.

Btw.....didn't find the Northern Hawk Owl

I like that second shot best, it really shows the buntings very clearly.

Really nice shots. I really like both of them, especially the first. Should be framed! I love that bird and actually saw a very small flock (maybe 10) in NJ today. Was my first time seeing them.

Just an update on the Hawk Owl...
Bruce Di Labio (Local Birding Expert) has spotted him both on Sunday & Monday (Dec 11 & 12 ) along Frank Kenny Road.

ps Nice Snow Bunting shot. I've only seen these birds once. I here there's a bunch out around Fallowfield & Eagleson roads.
