One of the portrait practicing sessions taken with my daughter while visiting in May. Unfortunately we live very far apart and only get to see each other 3-4X per year. So this is my fourth people portrait in a bit over a year.( My poor dogs I do all my practicing on them) I think I got to make some friends to practice on.

looks like she wasn't sitting up straight and then tilled her head which accented it more the light is good her skin tones around the neck a bit pale

So if God made Man & Woman....whats his excuse for Nikon...

yes she was slumping! I have to learn to see this with camera in hand!! You guys and your trained eyes see this right off the back.

Thanks for feedback!!

It's always easier to look at a photo and critique than when your shooting....I would kill to have a photographer stand over my shoulder and point out everything I missed would have prevented a lot of editing over the last 30yrs...

Your camera included a copy of Canon Utilities...learn to use it for shooting "tethered" to your computer...kinda like a preview of the shot.

Kinda hard to carry a laptop whenever you go out for a shoot.

I'd recommend just looking through the viewfinder and "seeing" or previewing the shot there by taking your time before you pull the trigger.

Yes that would be great!
I am going to my first camera round up in the black hills in September. I am signed up for two portrait workshops so I am quite excited about that.
Thanks for the feedback.

Part of the reason I got the camera a few months back. I tried with LightRoom and my camera would just lock up.
Thanks for feedback

I did lug my big boy lap top, 17 inches, on the plane with me to Vancouver.

Thanks for feedback

Besides getting her to sit up straight you have too much head room, unless that was on purpose to allow room for your watermark....

I do like the pose, shoulders turned, head turned to the camera - good portrait set up if she was sitting up.

Thank you for the comments. The head room was so I could crop for a 4X6. I was out of the shot on the sides so I had to have a tight crop.

Thanks again
Karen

She is a beautiful young lady. The posture hurts the shot, combined with the bright yellow of her sweater which draws my eye to the shoulder and accentuates the slouch. Hope you don't mind, did a quick crop, see what you think.

Have fun!
-John
