What in the heck is this, I think it is the worlds oddest GBH?

The grayish/yellow mottled color of the legs and feet. Along with the plumage varation, lead me to belive that this might be the result of a cross breeding of a Great Blue Heron and a Great Egret. They are a closely related species, and I've often seen them together. I'm no ornithologist, but it dosent seem to far fetched of an idea.

I'll take a stab at it with leucistic Great Blue Heron.

I don't know much about the bird's plumage, but I can say that they are very nice shots.

Tom,
it is a leucistic Great Blue Heron with considerable white feathering. Not albinistic... just prone to white. It is a genetic variation that occurs at random. The photo wouldn't let me post a comment, so you'll have to tell him for me. Thanks.

Wow that is very cool..and well documented ....leucistic or partially leucistic happens fairly often in the world of birds and I heve seen several but never a Heron. Excellent

Thanks everyone. I see this bird everyday while at work sitting at a pond off the side of the freeway. I wondered everyday what it is, so I figured it was time to figure out how to get close enough for a shot
